Hi, I’m Manda!

if you’ve found this blog, there’s a good chance I know you in real life. If not, let me introduce myself. 
I’m Manda. Im a Christian. I’m 28 and married to the best husband in the world. His name is Dillon.  We have two kids, Blair  and Luke. This year Dillon has heart surgery to fix SVT. My mom was diagnosed with  and beat breast cancer.  We just bought our first house and had our little boy only 3 months ago so life has been crazy! 
I started this blog to document everything happening since I found out I have the BRCA2 gene mutation, making my chances for ovarian and breast cancer higher than the average person.

Interesting News From My Doctor

So I put  so much of my life online I thought I’d document this Incase it could help someone going through the same thing. I’m not complaining that this is happening, God has blessed me way too much and I’m blessed they found it and can prevent it from becoming cancer. Gynecologist Appiontment

Yesterday I had my consultation with a gynecologist, to go over what steps I should take to prevent ovarian cancer. I went in assuming I’d need to remove my ovaries or get a full hysterectomy right away. But my doctor told me that they usually wait to remove ovaries between the ages of 35-40 because of the negative side effects it has on your body. Not only would it cause a hormone imbalance but it also causes problems with the heart and bones (I had no idea about the last two). So starting at 30 I will have ultra sounds and blood tests every 6 months to make sure everything is okay. She did tell me that ovarian cancer is seen less in women who tie or have their tubes removed and that would be a good option for now. So we will be removing my Fallopian tubes soon. He didn’t say it but I think Dillons happy about this because it saves him a vasectomy. I was glad to hear it’s a noninvasive surgery.
